A very talented colourist with a growing international reputation, Jonathan creates experimental screenprints and collages with a graphic edge, reflecting a longstanding love of geometry and pattern.
He has a keen eye for nuance and layering, paying close attention to colour and detail. He works in a "loose, organic way. Compositions are created randomly, printing numerous layers and different colours on top of one another. This creates a subtle effect: masking some areas off, revealing flashes of colour in others." With their painterly abstractions and beautiful, diaphanous layers, the results speak for themselves. Having graduated from Leeds Arts University in 2009 with a degree in Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design, he lived in Berlin for a decade. He's now based in southeast London, dividing his time between printmaking and designing for interiors, homeware and clothing clients. Whether he's designing a new wall covering or a making new edition, the creative potential of silkscreen continues to provide the initial spark.
